Our Story The owners of Checker Cab are the original founders and owners of Gator City Taxi. The Braddock Family received numerous awards and recognition not only locally but all across the industry. In 1997 their company became one of the first taxi companies in the world to utilize computerized dispatching with GPS tracking.
The Braddock family established the company in 1983 with just six vehicles, by the time they sold Gator City Taxi in 1999 the fleet consisted of nearly 400 vehicles.
In 1992 the Braddock’s’ Taxi Company was awarded the contract to be the exclusive taxi service of the Jacksonville International Airport.
Our Drivers
All our Drivers are required to comply with all City of Jacksonville regulations and requirements (including background checks) for obtaining a Vehicle-For-Hire permit. They must meet our strict standards regarding their Motor Vehicle Driving Record and are subjected to random drug testing.
Dress in company uniform is required at all times.
Commitment To Community
During their years of operating a business in Jacksonville, the Braddock family has contributed to numerous charity and non-profit organizations for the betterment of the community.
Such organizations include; the American Heart Association, Pine Castle, ARC Jacksonville, The Family Farm, Independent Living Resource Center of N.E. FL., The American Diabetes Association, Meals-on-Wheels, etc.
Checker Cab and Shuttle is also a current member of Visit Jacksonville.
